Catastrophic Surfside Condo Collapse Causes Death, Injury

According to Miami-Dade County Fire during a press conference, 55 units in the Northeast corridor of the Champlain Towers South Condo at 8777 Collins Ave. collapsed a little after 1:30 a.m., when most residents were asleep or in bed.

Immediately following the collapse, 35 survivors were pulled out of the rubble, 10 were treated at the scene, and at least two were transported to the hospital. At the time of publication, four people have been confirmed dead and 159 are still unaccounted for.
